Are you looking for a workflow that gives you consistent output? Looking to improve your editing skills? Searching for inspiration to “make” images? Fine tuning your printing skills?
This is the right workshop for you. With a maximum of 6 participants, you get instruction on how to rapidly process images to your first proof print. We then review your images and brainstorm on where to take that image from a creative standpoint. You‘ll learn the tools to apply your creativity by using Photoshop CSx, Lightroom, Phocus (for the Hasselblad raw conversion) and plug-ins.
After reviewing your second proof print, we go into deeper knowledge to give your images some “pop”. It could be as basic as dodging/burning or more advanced such as color palette transformation, perspective control, adding/removing elements, creating leading lines and rhythm.
As a final step, we prepare the image for print. You’ll learn the importance of sizing, final cropping, sharpening and finding remedies if the image on the screen doesn’t match the printer output. We have a final review and determine if other creative manipulation could add to the image.
As a heads up, this is not a beginner class. To enroll in the workshop, you need to be familiar with raw conversion (Phocus) and the common functions of Photoshop (layers & masks). We’ll teach you to improve your post processing skills by learning new functionality, using new tools (controls & plug-ins), and “building” a methodology for consistency. You’ll also come out of the workshop with new ideas on how to pursue creative photography.
Select a set of images, get your laptop ready, and embark on a journey you won’t regret.
I am looking forward to hosting you in Los Gatos at the end of April.
