In this workshop, we will focus on three special events in China: Snub Nose Monkeys, the Terracotta Warriors, and Spring Festival.
The golden snub-nosed monkey is an Old World monkey in the Colobinae subfamily. It is endemic to a small area in temperate, mountainous forests of central and Southwest China. They inhabit these mountainous forests of Southwestern China at elevations of 1,500-3,400 m above sea level. The Chinese name is Sichuan golden hair monkey (川金丝猴).
We will have many photoshoots to capture large families of monkeys interacting with each other and their babies. At this time of the year, there are very few visitors, which enable us to get tide portraiture.
In the City, where we start the workshop, Xian, we will visit the famous the Terra Cotta Warriors.
The Terracotta Army is a collection of terracotta sculptures depicting the armies of Qin Shi Huang, the first Emperor of China. It is a form of funerary art buried with the emperor in 210–209 BCE and whose purpose was to protect the emperor in his afterlife.
The figures, dating from approximately the late third century BCE, were discovered in 1974 by local farmers in Lintong District, Xi'an, Shaanxi province. The figures vary in height according to their roles, with the tallest being the generals. The figures include warriors, chariots and horses. Estimates from 2007 were that the three pits containing the Terracotta Army held more than 8,000 soldiers, 130 chariots with 520 horses and 150 cavalry horses.
Chinese New Year, also called the Spring Festival, is on February 16. According to the Chinese Zodiac, it will be the year of the Dog,
It is the grandest and the most important annual event for Chinese people and a great chance to experience the folk customs!
We will have special access to experience the Spring Festival! An event not to be missed.

Terms and Conditions
- The workshop takes place during winter, where low temperatures are the norm in the region we visit. Weather can be challenging. Be prepared for moody sky and cold temperature.
- Up to 1/2 mile walking on trails and wood platform to gain various accesses to monkeys and the ancient villages.
- We are staying in local hotels and rustic guest houses.
- We are eating freshly cooked local Chinese cuisine with lots of vegetables, soup, and local meat (not spicy). Chopsticks are the common “silverware”.
- We are traveling on ultra-modern highways to the local unpaved roads.
- However, the photographic opportunities are incredible. It is an amazing adventure and photographic experience.
