1 Day: Stylizing Images
Los Gatos, CA
May 11 (9AM - 4PM) - SOLD OUT
8 Seats only
(Register early as all sessions were sold out in the past)
Stylize is defined as a means to represent something according to a practical format or structure, rather than the rules of nature.
As photographers, we strive to “make” images that are different and exhume a “personal” feel. Where do you start? Where do you get inspiration? How do you go about making unique images? What tools do you need?
The Stylizing Images workshop is about “discovering” your inner artistry and giving you the tools that will enable you to turn your images into masterpieces. We start the workshop by showing examples on how “standard” images have been processed to make compelling masterpieces.
We then walk you thru the entire process with steps by steps explanations and hands-on exercises. You’ll leave the workshop with the standard image and the finished one with all the steps and the layers.
Upon signing up for the workshop, you will receive a coursebook with recommended readings, what to bring, and much more.
What you'll learn:
1. Introduction - Getting inspiration
2. Stylizing example from start to finish
• Layers, masks, blending modes, texture
3. Hands-on
• Making an image look more painterly
• Adjusting Contrast (global, local, granular)
• Improving tonality
• Breaking post processing rules (feel vs. technical)
• Experimenting with texture
• Redirecting the light
• Turning images into masterpieces
4. Stylizing: How to approach various subjects
5. Duplicate settings
6. Conclusion
The course is taught by two award winning fine art photographers: Eduardo Fujii and Oliver Klink.
Eduardo demonstrated great interest in the arts at an early age. He started music lessons at the age of five followed by painting a few years later. It wasn’t until late 2006, however, that he turned to photography as a form of artistic expression. Classical music and painting have been part of most of his life and have certainly contributed to the development of a lyrical sensibility that underlies his photography today. “I like to call myself an “artist with a camera. I truly believe that every photograph is a self-portrait”, says Eduardo.
Oliver was selected as the “Best of the Best” Emerging artist in 2016. His images – Consequences – were chosen as Top 50 Critical Mass Award winners. “Processing images with a personal style is a passion. You can relive what you saw at the point of capture with your artistic mind”, says Oliver.
NOTE: The pre-requirements for this workshop are a good working knowledge of Photoshop layers and masks.
Don't delay your registration. All Classes in 2018 sold out in less than a week.
We look forward to hosting you in the Los Gatos. You’ll be amazed of what you will be able to do with your images after the workshop!
Eduardo and Oliver.
SPECIAL AWARDS:
Eduardo Fujii was selected Photographer of the Year at the 2017 Spider Awards Black and White Contest
