1 Day: How Weird Festival

San Francisco, CA

May 2, 2021 (10AM - 5PM)

12 Seats

The How Weird Festival is a tradition happing in San Francisco in early May. This is an incredible festival, where people come together to celebrate peace, creativity, and weirdness. You will have a blast! Come in costume, mix with the crowd, and capture memorable images.

At the start of the workshop, we will explain what you can expect from the festival and how to photograph it. Remember this is a festival about creativity! We will give you and practice tips that will make the festival truly enjoyable. You will be able to approach people without the fear of “intruding” the fun. You will be able to position yourself for best photography angles. You will be ammunition with tips that make photographing festival “natural”.

The coursebook that you will receive prior to the festival will have really important information about what to bring. It will also include some of the tips that we highly recommend to photograph the festival, where to meet, what is the best way to travel to the festival, and much more valuable information.

The instruction will touch on multiple facets:
- How to photograph a festival
- How to approach people at a festival
- The technical tips to make your “street photography” intuitive
- How to think creatively

As a follow up to the festival, we are organizing a creative post processing workshop, where we will teach you “how to turn your images into creative artwork”. The workshop is taught in Los Gatos. A great way to “relive” the festival and to make images of personal nature. For more information on the Creative Post Processing Workshop, click here.

The workshop is taught by two award winning fine art photographers: Dany Suk and Oliver Klink.
Dany Suk is a fine art photographer. He served as a president of Palo Alto Camera Club. His interest in painting inspired him in 2010 to explorer Corel Painter as a tool for photography. He has been photographing the festival for many years. During the last nine years he developed his own painterly photographic style.
Oliver has photographed festivals around the world and the San Francisco Carnaval for the past 10 years! He is looking forward to teaching the tips that you can apply to the “How Weird Festival”. “Photographing and Processing images with a personal style is a passion. You can relive what you saw at the point of capture with your artistic mind”, says Oliver.

We look forward to hosting you in San Francisco. Expect to have an incredible day, surrounded by fun and creativity at the How Weird Festival!

Dany and Oliver.
