India is known for its culture, landscape, heritage, and its rich wildlife. During this workshop, we will focus on photographing the Royal Bengal Tigers in three different National Parks (12 game drives), local villages, temples, and the Taj Mahal. This is a feast for a photographer!
We are going to visit three National Parks (Kahna, Bandhavgarh, Panna) so we get a different feel of where the tigers live. Tigers in India and other parts of Asia are rare and tend to be secretive. By having 12 game drives (early morning, late afternoon), we increase our chances of spotting tigers and photograph them in idyllic lighting conditions. Our game drives are lead by local experts and are in jeeps.
Kahna park has a significant population of the Royal Bengal tiger, Indian leopards, the sloth bear, barasingha and Indian wild dog. The forest depicted in the famous novel by Rudyard Kipling, The Jungle Book is based on jungles including in this park.
Bandhavgarh has a large biodiversity. The density of the tiger population at Bandhavgarh is one of the highest known in India. The park has also large breeding population of leopards, and various species of deer.
Panna was given the Award of Excellence in 2007 as the best maintained national park of India by the Ministry of Tourism of India. Among the animals found here are the tiger, leopard, chital, chinkara, nilgai, sambhar and sloth bear. The park is home to more than 200 species of birds including the bar-headed goose, honey buzzard, king vulture, blossom-headed parakeet, changeable hawk-eagle and Indian vulture.
When we travel between the National Parks, we will visit local villages, temples, and the Taj Mahal in Agra. The Taj Mahal, one of the “Seven Wonders of the World”, is a truly spectacular monument. It represents a pinnacle of human achievement and one which epitomizes the romantic India of a bygone era. The riches accumulated by the Moghul emperors were used to build awe-inspiring strongholds and some of the most fabulous palaces and monuments ever constructed.
The workshop is led by three instructors (Oliver, Harsh, Arti) and expert wildlife guides specialized in each of the national parks. We stay in resort near the National Parks to minimize travel time. We travel by coach between National Parks, and in jeeps inside the National Parks.
This is a unique opportunity to discover the wildlife and lesser known culture of India.
All in country lodging, meals and transportation (including internal flight) are included.
