ONLINE CLASS

LAST CLASS TO BE TAUGHT ONLINE: If want to take this class, don't delay your registration, as it is the last time it is taught online. Limited seats remaining.

The goal of this class is to enable you to learn and experiment new techniques to master the conversion and post processing of images to Black and White. At the end of the class, you will have acquired knowledge to improve your workflow and adapt new techniques to your B&W post processing workflow. This is a 5 sessions online class (4 group sessions, 1 private session).

Session One: 2 hours online class - group session
Goal: Get the most out of your capture file
We will compare the processing of RAW files using Adobe ACR, Lightroom, CaptureOne, OnOne Software, Iridient, and more. The techniques apply to either an RGB or monochromatic image. We will demo the use of presets and how to create them for your own style.
Not all raw converters are created equal!

Session Two: 2 hours online class - group session
Goal: Black and White conversion
We tackle the Black and White conversion, testing various software (Nik Silver Efex, CaptureOne B&W style, Adobe B&W, OnOne B&W presets, BWVision, Infinite BW, etc.). After experimentation, we will set up a repeatable workflow, integrating the conversions with your catalog!
The subtleties of all the converters will surprise you.

Session Three: 1 hour online class - Private Session
Goal: Private coaching – review of your images
During the session, we will review your images, answer specific questions related to the content taught in Session 1 & 2. This is a unique opportunity to get feedback on how you are progressing with your new post processing skills.
Great session to learn trends in your images.

Session Four: 2 hours online class - group session
Goal: Redirecting the light
We will teach techniques to create mask and apply effects to redirect the light, to add dimensionality in your images, and to emphasize “readability”. Prior to the session, you will receive a list of applications, plug-ins, presets that we will use. We will use various techniques to create masks.
This is where the rubber hits the road.

Session Five: 2 hours online class - group session
Goal: Getting your images ready for print/publishing
During the session, you will learn the “10 checks methodology” prior to printing or publishing (sizing, sharpening, border patrol, etc.). We will discuss how to remedy and modify an image if the “checks come negative”. We will use various styles of photography (landscape, street, portraiture) to apply solutions.
Knowing what to look for prior to your final version.

• Workflow from RAW conversion to output
