What is this workshop about? Klink was educated as a physicist and photographer. 15 years ago, he jumped off the HighTech career to focus full time on fine art photography and teaching his passion to avid photographers. This workshop retraces the steps he took to progress from an avid travel photographer to one who delivers meaningful messages thru storytelling and compelling images. Klink will discuss his “breakthroughs”, the technical choices he made to be recognized as one of the best printmakers, the power of making images of personal nature, working on “hero shots” versus a longterm project, how “compelling and different the world of the art is” and be able to embrace it. The format is lecture style, with Q&A at the end of each segments.

This is an online class, taught thru zoom software.

- Photography as a 2D medium (vs. capturing in a 3D environment)
- Best tips to improve your post processing
- And more tips to make your images “sing”
- Before and After images, and what was done to accomplish the results

Segment 4: I love images on my wall
- The smell of the ink vs. the beautiful electronic display
- The fear of printing and how to overcome it
- The dos when you print (very few don’ts when you get into it!)
- What makes an acceptable, good, mind blowing print

Segment 5: I do it for fun
- I wish more people would see my work
- Turning my hobby into a retirement occupation

All the information delivered are based on practical examples, trials and errors, “pulling hair”, sleepless nights thinking about what I just did (or didn’t do), interactions with hundreds of avid photographers that have traveled with me around the world or attended workshops at my studio, industry experts/colleagues/mentors who helped me overcome “the lows of making art” and encouraged me when they saw “the highs”, emotional reactions of viewers, and many more sources (with some google searches).

Oliver Klink is a professional photographer, originally from Switzerland, now based in the San Francisco Bay Area. He has photographed in over 120 countries. In 2018, he published a book (Cultures in Transition: Spirit Heart Soul), which won NINE AWARDS for best photography book of 2019. The images, the stories, the sequencing, the quality of the printing, and the cover, all contributed to the awards. He was also awarded 2018 Black and White photographer of the year by Dodho Magazine.

Oliver Klink has photographed in 122 countries, manages over 1 million images and 200 Terabytes+ of storage. He has mastered a digital image management workflow to integrate his master catalogue with his traveling sub-catalogues, migrate storage from multiple drives to consolidated systems, to produce single or set of images with repeatable post processing steps. His goals is turning his images into fine art pieces. “I never have enough time to post process my images. Getting organized enabled me to have creative time for my images.”
