The Pismo Beach sand dunes area is recognized by scientists, conservationists, government agencies, and the public as the finest, most extensive coastal dunes remaining in California. Finding the region that is less visited can be challenging, but will provide incredible opportunities for creative photography. During the workshop we will photograph the sand dunes (main focus). We will also be opportunistic to capture butterflies and rugged coastlines.

Workshop Highlights
- The workshop starts on Friday at 2PM, ends Sunday (after sunrise)
- Zoom session prior to the workshop. "Creativity, composition, camera & logistics details". Meeting is recorded and shared if participants can't attend
- All locations are accessible by regular car. Easy parking
- Recommended equipment: Lens from 18mm – 400mm (We will focus on different aspect of the dunes in each session, varying the focal length)
- Wearing a face mask is required at all time during the workshop
- Up to 2 miles walk in the sand dunes (per session) with frequent stops for photography
- If we have clear sky, we will organize an optional night photography session
- All levels welcome. You need to be familiar with operating your camera as the instruction focuses on creativity

- Price: $350 (single), $500 (couple)
- Transportation, accommodation, and food are not included in the price of the workshop
- Participants are responsible to plan their own transportation and book their accommodation (recommendations provided upon sign up)

February 23 (6PM): Zoom pre-workshop meeting
The instructor will present creative idea to capture the sand dunes sensuality from a technical and artistic stand point. Logistics will also be detailed.
Session is recorded and shared with participants who can’t attend.

February 26 - 28: Photoshoots
- The workshop starts on Friday at 2PM, ends Sunday (after sunrise)
- Friday afternoon: First photoshoot in the dunes
- Saturday Sunrise/Morning: 2nd photoshoot in the dunes
- Saturday Sunset/Afternoon: 3rd photoshoot in the dunes
- Sunday Sunrise/Morning: 4th photoshoot in the dunes
- Optional: Night photography in the dunes (clear sky dependent)
- During the day, we will balance rest time, optional review sessions and photoshoots of butterflies & rugged coastline

Logistics

Upon signing up for the workshop, you’ll receive a detailed coursebook and recommended reading material.

Logistics
- All locations are accessible by regular car
- Many choices for accommodation (from hotel to campground)
- Many choices for food (from grocery store to take out, to restaurants)

Recommended equipment
- Tripod
- Lens: 18mm – 400mm (We will focus on different aspect of the dunes in each session, varying the focal length)
- Optional: Filters, cable release
- Computer to download your images and receive feedback (in between sessions)
- Head lamp, cell phone
- Hat, sunblock, water bottle, jacket, hiking shoes/good sandals

Workshop Structure
- Wearing a face mask is required at all time during the workshop
- Meeting locations and time will be given prior to each session. Then we will walk as a group to the shooting locations
- General instruction is delivered to the group with social distancing enforced in an outside setting
- Individual questions, suggestions, and feedback are shared with social distancing enforced and/or over zoom meetings
- Optional: Feedback between each session is delivered with social distancing enforced and/or over zoom meetings
- Optional (but highly recommended): One zoom session prior to the workshop to learn “creativity, composition, camera” and receive additional info on the logistics

Participants' Responsibility
- Transportation, accommodation, and food are not included in the price of the workshop
- Participants are responsible to plan their own transportation and book their accommodation
- Recommendation will be provided upon signing up (or you can search on kayak.com for accommodation in Pismo Beach)
- Type of accommodations: There are various price ranged hotels located between 15 – 30 minutes drive from the photoshoots.
- If you own a camper/RV, there are nice campgrounds located between 5 – 15 minutes drive from the photoshoots
- There are many options for food (grocery stores, restaurants, take outs)

Difficulties


- Up to 2 miles walk in the sand dunes (per session) with frequent stops to photograph
- Temperature: Low (43F) – High (64F)
- Very unlikely rain, some wind
- Easy driving access to the photoshoot locations with ample parking spaces
- Early rise (sunrise at 7AM) and early evening (sunset at 5PM)
- If we have clear sky, we will organize an optional night photography session in the dunes

Rules for attending IncredibleTravelPhotos LLC workshops during the Covid 19 pandemic and Legal Disclaimer

As we live in a pandemic world, we want everybody to have a safe, productive and creative experience during the workshop. We are following the recommended guidelines set by the CDC and Santa Clara County Health Department. By signing this document, you understand and will adhere to the rules to protect yourself and others.

1. You need to bring your own mask. Bandannas are not a mask.
2. Wearing a mask is required upon arrival at the workshop. Mask will cover mouth and nose at all time.
3. You will have your temperature checked upon arrival and prior to every session.
4. You will track your temperature, starting 10 days before the workshop, and share your chart the day before the start of the workshop. Chart will be printed and workshop temperature check will be added to your chart. If temperate analysis shows an unusual trend, the person will be asked to leave the workshop. No refund will be provided.
5. You will sanitize your hands upon arrival. Hand sanitizer will be provided.
6. Social distancing will strictly be enforced during the workshop (6 feet apart).
7. If we have meals together (In the off-the-beaten path workshops, people cooking their own food), we will social distance in an outdoor setting.
8. Not adhering to the above rules is a reason for immediate dismissal from the workshop. No refund will be provided.
9. We want everybody to feel comfortable. Thank you for the understanding!

Oliver Klink is a fine art photographer based in Los Gatos, CA. His book Cultures in Transition won 9 awards for best photography book of 2019. He was selected as B&W photographer of the year (2018) by Dodho magazine, the Best” Emerging artist in 2016 by BWGallerist. Cultures in Transition body of work was selected as Top 50 Critical Mass Award (2016 & 2018). His image, “Herding Instinct” won the grand prize at the Rayko International Photocontest in 2014, others have received “mentioned” in the Black and White Spidar Awards for the past 5 years. “Processing images with a personal style is a passion. You can relive what you saw at the point of capture with your artistic mind”, says Oliver.
